Biography
An expert in negotiation, relationship management and the implementation of
strategy, Russell brings 35 years of consulting and operating expertise to his
practice. He is an internationally regarded author, speaker and consultant.
His clients include Fortune 500 companies in aerospace, healthcare,
pharmaceutical and biotechnology, information technology, telecommunications
and oil and gas. He has extensive international experience working in England,
France, Germany, Spain, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and
Hong
Kong, as well as all across North and South America.
Russell’s early career focused on helping individuals and groups improve the quality of life. In 1978,
he created Insight Seminars, a not-for-profit educational corporation offering personal awareness
and transformation programs. Insight grew from a spare bedroom to an international organization
with offices in 34 countries.
In the mid 1980’s, he founded Insight Consulting Group and later Productivity Development Group to
expand on issues of team building, leadership development, and individual and organization
accountability.
In 1997, he joined Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) as an Associate Partner, focusing on the
implementation of complex change strategies in global organizations.
In 2000, he joined Vantage Partners, a Boston based boutique, where he developed expertise in
negotiations and alliance management. In 2005, Russell returned to private practice.
In addition to his consulting practice, he has lectured on productivity for the executive MBA programs
at UCLA, University of Texas and Washington University in St. Louis. Russell previously served on
the Board of Directors for the University of Santa Monica and was a charter member of the Advisory
Board for the Points of Light Foundation.
He received a Master's degree in Educational Psychology from the Davis Campus of the University
of California and currently resides in Santa Barbara, California and Mauna Lani, Hawaii with his
wife, Valerie. Russell is an avid golfer and amateur chef.
